Delhi, lying on the western end of the Gangetic plain and drained by River Yamuna, is the capital and the third largest city of India. On Tours to Delhi, witness the healthy blend of the ancient, the medieval, the colonial and the contemporary architecture as you pass through the ruins and remains of the eight cities of Delhi. The earliest history of Delhi can be traced to the period of Mahabharata when the Pandavas established their capital Indraprastha at Delhi in c.1450 BC. The archaeological excavations have proved their capital to be at the Old Fort area.

Prithviraj Chauhan extended the old city of Lal Kot with ramparts and moat and named it Qila-I-Rai Pithora. The second city of Delhi was the city of Siri established by Ala-ud-Din Khilji in 1311 AD. Only the ruins of the once elaborate fort, palace and buildings are left.
